Olimpus brooch (Red)

This pretty brooch is beautifully handcrafted in Colombia using tagua (known as vegetable ivory), a seed from a palm tree that grows in the tropical regions of South America. When ripe the nuts fall to the ground and are gathered and dried for up to 2 years after which they become extremely hard. Today, tagua is replacing the slaughter of mammal ivory in the textile and fashion industries. The artisans making this jewellery are certified in Columbia by the Administrative Department of the Environment and comply with all environmental conservation policies. This brooch looks great as a funky accessory to brighten up any jacket, bag or top.

When my grandmother died my mom gave me her wdinedg ring. She wore it for 40 years. My grandfather died when I was 2 so I never knew him and she never remarried. It is a simple rose gold band that I had copied to go on the other side of my engagement ring. Both new pieces are very simple gold bands which can be worn individually. I inherited my grandfather's pinkie ring, a black onyx disc set into a gold band. I wanted to have it melted down and the onyx mounted into a pendant but it was stolen in a house robbery a few years ago, along with some other older pieces from my grandmother. Most of it had no value other than sentimental as the stones were not real diamonds but zirconia or marcasite. Still, it would have been nice to hang onto those pieces and give them to my children one day.My sister was given all our grandmother's broaches though. Those look very similar to your broach. She has a few rings too, real delicate little pieces. I have no idea what she is going to do with them.
