Handcrafted in Colombia, this stylish necklace loops through itself on a light brown leather tie, so can be worn short or long, and is made from tagua (known as vegetable ivory), a seed from a palm tree that grows in the tropical regions of South America. When ripe the nuts fall to the ground and are gathered and dried for up to 2 years after which they become extremely hard. Today, tagua is replacing the slaughter of mammal ivory in the textile and fashion industries. The artisans making this jewellery are certified in Columbia by the Administrative Department of the Environment and comply with all environmental conservation policies. The cream tagua on this necklace makes it an easy colour to wear with almost any outfit. Measures approx 37cm when worn and comes in recyclable gift box.
